Hi, I'm Rebecca.

Educator, homeschool parent, Montessori guide, and the heart behind Modern Montessori.

My love for early childhood education began at a young age and has continued to grow throughout every season of my life. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working not only as an educator, but also as a parent, mentor, and guide to children, teachers, and families navigating their own learning journeys. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: my deep belief that children deserve respect, connection, and meaningful opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences.

I created Modern Montessori because I wanted Montessori to feel less intimidating and more approachable for everyday families, caregivers, homeschoolers, and educators. Too often, Montessori can feel exclusive, overwhelming, or out of reach. My hope is to create a space that feels warm, practical, encouraging, and grounded in the reality of everyday life with children.

I am the owner of Whiting Woods Montessori, where I have spent years creating calm, child-centered learning environments rooted in independence, curiosity, and respect. I hold Montessori training certifications through the North American Montessori Center, earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education administration from the University of Arizona, and have spent over 20 years working with children — including 14 years teaching Montessori and 8 years homeschooling my own children.

My philosophy is simple: children deserve to be treated with dignity and understanding. Learning should not feel rushed. Independence matters. Play matters. Beauty and calm matter. Montessori should be accessible, adaptable, and rooted in real life; not perfection. Some of the most meaningful learning moments happen during everyday routines, conversations, baking in the kitchen, reading together on the couch, or exploring the world outdoors.

Whether you are just beginning your Montessori journey or have been practicing for years, I hope Modern Montessori helps you feel inspired, supported, and connected to the joy of learning alongside children.
